Why is there no cashback on Airtel recharges and bill payments through Paytm or FreeCharge wallet, etc.?
Airtel is having their own app “Airtel money” with the help of this app, we can do recharges, bill payments, DTH payments, Broadband payment etc. Now they must promote their app and they have stopped giving coupons and cashback’s on other wallets. They offers cashback and offers for their app only.
Some telecom researchers believe there could be multiple reasons for this –
- A rigid commission structure from Airtel might leave less room for providers like Paytm to offer discounts or cashbacks
- Airtel might have asked these providers to refrain from offering benefits in order to drive customers to their own portal. This if successful would mean that Airtel need not pay commissions to third party portals. It may also be noted that Airtel also offers web-exclusive recharges.
